León's origins go back to the times when the Romans dominated Hispania
Established as a military camp for the Legio VI Victrix around 29 BC, it solidified its role as a strategic city with the permanent settlement of the Legio VII Gemina in 74 AD.
Over the centuries, León rose to prominence as the capital of the kingdom in the Middle Ages, becoming a key stop on the Pilgrim's Road to Santiago de Compostela. Today, it stands as a vibrant city deeply connected to its past while offering a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
